Francesca Leone - Visions

Suanjaya Kencut, Freedom Series-Fly, 2022, Acrylic on canvas, 100 x 80 cm | 39 3/8 x 31 1/2 in;

After the great success of three exhibitions held in 2014 – at the MAC Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago de Chile, at the MACBA Museum of Contemporary Art in Buenos Aires and at the Academy of Fine Art in Saint Petersburg – for the first time in Asia Francesca Leone shows a selection of her latest works.
The exhibition, curated by Natalia Demina,  presents the powerful feminine bodies of the series “Corpi e terra” made by twenty-one big canvas. Trough material density and earthy colors the painter shows women’s body details caught in a moment of dereliction, as they were just arisen from a shapeless substance, and also she explores them step by step , particular by particular, with vigorous brushes.
The expositive path continues with four big icons’ portraits of our time, such as the Pope, Nelson Mandela, Anna Pavlova, Rudolf Nurejev, and presents the latest series “Flussi immobili” composed by feminine faces delineated only with a quick action, painted fluently like a water jet.[
